Applications
LookAround
As a result of our work on an intuitive routing system for blind people on smartphones, we entered into a joint-venture with California-based Sendero Group. Together we released LookAround, an accessible app for blind people which at the shake of a phone tells a blind user where they are and what points-of-interest are around them.

Kanchi
Point the Way is working with Kanchi to investigate an innovative solution which will help visually impaired people identify everyday products. There is currently a barrier to the simple task of picking up something from a supermarket shelf and accessing the same information as sighted people about that product. Our goal is to give this information to the visually impaired community using smartphone technology so they can live more independent lives.
Team Daft Position Tracker
Designed for the blind adventurer, Mark Pollock, the Team Daft Position Tracker was built on two Android smartphones to track Mark's position in the Round Ireland Yacht Race. The positions were relayed live back to land via SMS. The project was undertaken in collaboration with O2 and the application also tracked O2's mobile signal strengths off the coast of Ireland.
